The aim of the program is to reduce risk factors for chronic disease or improve the management of chronic disease if already present. Non-pregnant adults with a BMI greater than or equal to 30 who need assistance with their weight management through individual and group based exercises.
According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, 61% of Australian adults are classified as overweight or obese and in 2009, 1050 Australian deaths were attributed to obesity. Within the South Eastern Perth catchment area, 51.3% of men and 37.9% women are either overweight or obese. While there is an increasing need for weight loss programs that focus on healthy eating and physical activity, there is a lack of these initiatives in the region. Privately owned business that run weight loss programs are often not tailored for seniors and unaffordable to many.
Active Measures™ is a community exercise program operating at Cannington Leisureplex in Cannington to support clients newly diagnosed or living with chronic disease and those who require healthy weight management support. We Bulk Bill.
What we are offering
- One-on-one sessions with an Accredited Exercise Physiologist
- Group exercise sessions run by an Accredited Exercise Physiologist
- Qualified Nutritionist, Dietitian (APD) and Sports Dietitian.

- Must be over 18 years of age.
- Non-pregnant.
Referral Process
Medicare-eligible patients
If your patient has a chronic or terminal medical condition with a GPMP (item 721) and TCA (item 723), please provide a Referral Form for Individual Allied Health Service.
Private patients
Those with private health ancillary cover may be entitled to a rebate through their health fund. Private fees will exist for those who are not eligible for Medicare or Private Health Rebates.
